'Jericho' Hits Wall, NBC's 'Loser' Holds Own

CBS' "Jericho" witnessed a few less bricks in the wall this week--suffering a sharp decrease from its season premiere a week ago.

The fan-supported favorite drama dropped 23% lower to a Nielsen preliminary 2.0 rating among 18-49 viewers. CBS also suffered with its "Big Brother" series--down double digits, 24% to a 1.9.

"American Idol" was the instigator in the damage to these shows and others on the network schedule, earning an 11.2 rating among 18-49 viewers.

Even then, NBC says its "Biggest Loser" held up well--posting a 3.3 rating among 18-49 viewers, which the network says is its best performance against a regular-season "Idol." NBC took some pleasure in the fact that "Idol" was down from last Tuesday's episode by 9%. NBC could also crow that a repeat of "Law & Order: SVU" posted a 3.3 and won the hour.

ABC didn't get over a 2.0 rating for any of its TV shows for the night: An original of "Just For Laughs" took a 1.2, and a repeat earned a 1. "According to Jim" had a 1.6; "Carpoolers" a 1.4; and "Boston Legal" a 1.9.

The CW went with a repeat of "Reaper"--at a 0.8 rating among 18-49 viewers--and an original "One Tree Hill," with a 1.3 rating.

Fox was first for the night, with an 11.2 average rating and a 27 share. NBC was second at 3.3/8. Then came CBS at 2.0/5; followed by Univision at 1.6/4; ABC in fifth at 1.5/4, and CW sixth at 1.0/3.
