Variety Publisher Reed Elsevier To Divest Trade Magazines

Reed Elsevier, the Dutch-Anglo publisher of trade magazines such as Variety and B&C Tuesday announced plans to sell its trade publishing operations, as part of a reorganization that will focus the company more heavily on database publishing. Reed Elsevier, which already operates LexisNexis, also said it was acquiring ChoicePoint for $4.1 billion (including $600 million in debt), and would combine it with its LexisNexis Risk Information and Analytics Group.
