Relevantis Rolls Out Ad Platform for Android

  • March 19, 2008
Relevantis has launched Relevantis Universal Ad Platform, a monetization platform for Web sites and developers of widgets, applications and games for Android, Google's mobile phone platform.

The platform allows Android developers to include personalized and location-aware ads within their apps--and the API gives developers more control over the kinds of ads that can be displayed, as well as enabling the ads to be cached. This way, if a user with an Android-enabled mobile phone is underground in the subway or otherwise offline, the ads can still be displayed. Kirkland, Wash.-based Relevantis takes a portion of any ad revenues earned as its fee.

"When Google announced Android, everybody expected that it would exclusively support Google ads. However, Google's ad platform doesn't even support Android applications at all yet," said Relevantis CEO Scott Searle. "And perhaps more importantly, our platform supports multiple ad networks, not just Google. So, developers can choose to receive ads from one or more major networks like Microsoft, Yahoo and AOL in addition to Google."
