Russell Simmons' Global Grind Social Network Expands

Global Grind, the social network backed by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and Accel Partners, is in expansion mode this week, rolling out new programming features, photo and video sharing capabilities and widgets.

Site users will also be able to aggregate content and have the community vote or comment on stories. The more engagement a story receives, the higher it will rank on the site's roster.

In comparison to the beta, the site will now feature a new look and offer access to more than 1,000 sources covering music, gossip, entertainment, politics, sports, news and lifestyle. Member profiles will now offer full customization capabilities through widgets and more user-friendly photo and video sharing capabilities.

Global Grind has also launched a mobile site, which has been optimized for a multitude of devices including iPhone, Sidekick and BlackBerry.

In addition, Global Grind has created a Facebook Trivia Game application, attempting to engage users from both sites to challenge each other on pop culture, news, movies, music, politics, and sports.
