Taunton Press Gets Inspired

  • May 27, 2003
Taunton Press, publisher of such specialty shelter publications as Fine Woodworking and Fine Homebuilding, has announced plans to launch Inspired House later this year. The title will debut with a companion TV show produced by WTTW public television in Chicago. Inspired House, scheduled to hit newsstands on October 14, is aimed at readers who want to "design and personalize their homes to reflect who they are and how they really live," according to a Taunton press release. The magazine will attempt to provide readers with the core information about architecture and decorating that will help them make smart choices about home design.

Like other Taunton publications, Inspired House will only feature endemic advertising, meaning that the mag will generate little of its revenue from advertising. "The first tip-off to our readers that our publications are unique is that we don't sell our back covers, we don't sell the table of contents and we don't break up features," said Taunton Press Magazine Group publisher Jon Miller in the press release. "When you put the reader first, they embrace the magazine on a much deeper level and develop a much stronger connection to its content." A bimonthly, Inspired Housedebuts with a guaranteed circulation of 180,000 and a cover price of $5.99. Each issue will boast approximately 100 pages.
