With weather now listed among the top three most popular content categories for "streamies," The Weather Channel has developed new streaming video content and expanded its list of broadband partners to ensure that consumers have online access to unique weather videos from the nation's premier weather provider. The Weather Channel and RealNetworks this week announced that they have extended their relationship to feature new Weather Channel content for RealOne SuperPass subscribers. Through this agreement, The Weather Channel has expanded their weather video coverage to include video forecasts for all U.S. cities and zip codes. Consumers can access this service by subscribing either to the RealOne SuperPass service for a monthly fee of $9.95, or to WeatherPass, a weather-only version of the service for $4.95 per month. Through the multiple "panes" of the RealOne Player, users will also be able to see additional detailed and reliable forecast information, such as radar maps that are updated every 15 minutes. In other RealNetworks news, the company has expanded its relationship with ABC News, whereby RealNetworks is the only premium content subscription service to offer ABC New Live - ABC News' 24-hour live news service, which launched in March. In addition to providing ABC News content to RealOne SuperPass subscribers and supporting premium video news content for ABC News On Demand, ABC News will also collaborate with RealNetworks on new mobile content services. The new agreement also provides for inclusion of ABC News content in new RealOne subscription services in international markets
