Nytimes.Com To Offer Multimedia Guide Of Tour De France

  • July 10, 2003
NYTimes.com announced today a partnership with Agence France-Presse (AFP) that offers a complete interactive guide to the 2003 Tour de France. The feature will be live for the duration of the race, which runs until July 27th. The multimedia feature from AFP provides an interactive map of the overall route as well as detailed information for each stage of the race. Readers can scroll over the map for descriptions and distances, or use the numbered navigation tool at the bottom of each section to access comprehensive stage-by-stage standings. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Tour de France, which began on Saturday with the opening prologue stage in Paris for the first time in 40 years. The race will follow the same routes it did in 1903, passing through Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Nantes. This year also marks American rider Lance Armstrong's attempt to win his fifth consecutive title. NYTimes.com's Tour de France coverage also includes daily articles by cycling writer Samuel Abt as well as audio slide shows narrated by him.
