Lifetime Entertainment Prez Resigns

Susanne Daniels is leaving as president of entertainment for Lifetime Networks, to spend more time with her family.

After three years at the network, Daniels resigned her role at the women-targeted network's chief programmer. Daniels helped to lead the network's turnaround in ratings, improving in almost every demographic: women 18-24, women 18-34, women 18-49, adults 18-34, and adults 18-49.

Daniels was instrumental in getting Lifetime's hit show "Army Wives" on the network's schedule, which has become the highest-rated series in the network's history. She also brought on Carson Kressley's "How to Look Good Naked," Lifetime's most successful unscripted series, which premiered this year. She also gave the greenlight to "Life is Not a Fairy Tale: The Fantasia Barrino Story" the second-highest-rated movie in the history of Lifetime.

Previously, Daniels was head of The WB entertainment division in 1998, rolling out such programs as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," "Dawson's Creek," "Felicity" and "Smallville." Daniels came to the WB in 1994, as the head of prime-time series for The WB Television Network.

Prior to joining The WB, Daniels spent two years as Fox's director of comedy development, working on shows such as "Martin" and "Living Single."

Daniels is married to Greg Daniels, co-creator and executive producer of the Fox series "King of the Hill," and executive producer of the NBC series "The Office." They reside with their three children in Los Angeles.

Lifetime says Daniels will stay on as president until a new person takes her position.
