Matt Cohler, vice president of product management at Facebook, will join venture capital firm Benchmark Capital as a general partner this fall. Afterward, he will continue to serve as special advisor to Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the social network's senior management team.

Cohler was one of the first five employees hired by Facebook's founders in 2005 and previously was vice president and general manager at LinkedIn, the social network for professionals that raised a $53 million round of venture financing this week.

In his new role at Benchmark, Cohler will focus on identifying investment opportunities in Internet-related services. That means finding the next Facebook or LinkedIn.
