American Family Returns For New Season

  • July 15, 2003
Latino drama American Family will return to PBS with 13 new episodes and a new co-sponsor, the network said. PBS President and CEO Pat Mitchell announced that the drama would return to the network beginning April 4. The last nine episodes of the first season would be rebroadcast during Hispanic Heritage Month beginning Sept. 28. The drama's sole sponsor for its first season, Johnson & Johnson, would be joined the new year by The American Legacy Foundation. The foundation, a first-time PBS sponsor, develops programs that address the health effects of tobacco use through grants, technical assistance and training, youth activism, strategic partnerships and other efforts. "American Family represents the largest original continuing character drama initiative in the history of PBS," said Mitchell. "PBS is dedicated to being the most diverse network on American television and we are committed to this series' success because it brings so much to our audiences."
