Disney Puts ABC TV Shows On Veoh Site

ABC's Grey's AnatomyMoving toward a digital syndication model similar to its competitors, Disney-ABC Networks have made a deal with Veoh Networks.

Content added on Veoh will be full episodes of ABC shows such as "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," as well as ABC-produced show "Ugly Betty."

It will also run ESPN programming and clips, including "SportsCenter Right Now"--a twice-daily highlight show, plus clips from ESPN programs "Mike and Mike in the Morning," "Pardon the Interruption" and "Around the Horn."

Since launching in 2006, over 380 million episodes have been played in some part through the ABC.com player.

Veoh joins AOL Video as only the major video site to distribute Disney content online in a free advertising-supported format. ABC's affiliate sites and Cox.net also run Disney programming.

Other major TV networks' digital efforts, such as CBS, have a much wider syndication plan for their shows, with scores of Web sites and digital video players running programming. Veoh is also part of the CBS Audience Network, CBS' digital advertising selling group.

One of Veoh's major investors is former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, who also sits on the company's board. Other high-profile investors and board members include former Viacom executives Tom Freston and Jonathan Dolgen.
