Whole Foods Launches Program To Control Prices

  • July 11, 2008
Shoppers at Whole Foods Market-nicknamed "Whole Paycheck" for its reputation for high prices--are having sticker shock at the soaring costs of foods. To help consumers navigate aisles where milk costs as much as $7 a gallon and a bag of organic cherries can hit $15, the company says it is introducing a new, national program to "provide specially priced product discounts, money-saving coupons and tips, and budget recipes."

Shoppers can read about the deals in a 28-page quarterly publication, that will be available in stores. And the Austin, Tex.-based food retailer has also created a space on its website "for customers to upload their own tips on how to enjoy a healthy Whole Foods Market lifestyle while sticking to a budget."--Sarah Mahoney
