U.K. consumers now will see hybrid CPM (cost-per-1000) and CPC (cost-per-click) ads for local merchants when they visit sites featuring WidgetBucks ad units. The retail and shopping-focused widgets previously only served CPM ads to visitors outside the U.S. and Canada.
Seattle-based WidgetBucks will continue to roll the hybrid ad units out throughout Western Europe by the end of the month, including merchants from Germany, France, Sweden and the Netherlands.
"This expansion of our network serves two purposes," said Matt Hulett, chairman and CEO of Mpire (parent company of WidgetBucks). "It diversifies revenues streams for our publishers and bloggers while providing our advertisers and merchants with more targeted country and region-specific buyers."
