These days, everybody loves a bargain, and it's showing in Wal-Mart Stores' bottom line. The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer says net sales for the second quarter of its fiscal year jumped 10.4% to $101.6 billion, while income advanced 9.3% to $3.39 billion.

For the quarter, comparable-store sales at its Wal-Mart and Sam's Club divisions increased 4.5%.

Still, the company says it expects to see "some sales volatility from week to week in the quarter ahead," and is forecasting a same-store sales increase between 1% and 2%.--Sarah Mahoney
