Swinand Takes Starcom Global Group President Post

Andrew Swinand of Starcom MediaVest GroupAs she forms her own team following the resignation of Renata McCann in June, Starcom MediaVest Group Global CEO Laura Desmond has named Andrew Swinand to a new position as president of global operations for the media agency.

Swinand comes to Starcom as president/COO of Denuo, the media future consultancy within Publicis Groupe, which also controls Starcom. Before Denuo, Swinand was president of Starcom Worldwide.

In this role, Swinand will bolster up the agency's International operations including Latin America, the Europe/Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific groups. Starcom's North American operations, however, will continue to report directly to Desmond.

While at Starcom previously, Swinand helped grab the Samsung account, as well as building a bigger global technology group for the media agency. The media agency says he is responsible for developing proprietary accountability metrics to measure Return-on-Objective (ROO) across all client investments.

Swinand will continue to oversee the Nintendo account across Starcom Worldwide and Leo Burnett.

Desmond took the reins after long-time executive McCann, CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group/The Americas, announced plans to take a one-year sabbatical from the company in June of this year. McCann's one-year leave doesn't begin until January 2009.
