PAX Continues Growth

Paxson Communications Corp. announced that PAX TV is continuing to grow its audience as demonstrated by its third season premiere week Nielsen numbers released today. During the network's August 21 - 27 premiere week, the family entertainment network delivered an average NTI rating of 1.1, growing 38% since the previous year's premiere week (August 1999) in total viewership from 1 million to more than 1.4 million.

This marks an all-time, Monday - Sunday primetime high for PAX. The network also is attracting larger numbers of viewers in the 18 - 49 demo, which is up 32% for the network's premiere week versus the previous fall season premiere week. Adults 25 - 54 are up 30%.

In the 49th week of the TV season, which ended on Sunday, CBS led in average prime-time viewership and captured adults ages 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research.

CBS captured an 8.8 rating and a 15 share in total household rankings, followed by ABC with a 6.7 rating and 12 share. NBC came in third with a 5.5 rating and 10 share and Fox was fourth with a 4.0 rating and 7 share.

In the 18-49 demographic, CBS was also the winner with a 5.3 rating (16 share), followed by ABC at 3.3 (10 share), NBC with 2.9 (9 share) and Fox, which also garnered a 2.8 rating (8 share).

UPN reached a 2.2 rating and 4 share in total household rankings, and its rating among adults 18-49 was a 1.4.

In total household rankings, the WB Network had a 1.6 rating and 3 share last week. Its rating among adults 18-49 was 0.9.

PAX TV had a total household rating of 1.1 and a 2 share. Among adults 18-49, it had a 0.4 rating.
