Screen Saver: Clear Channel Radio Cuts MovieTickets.com Deal

filmreelClear Channel Radio named MovieTickets.com its exclusive online movie ticketing partner. Listeners who search for movies and showtimes at the company's radio sites can buy tickets for theaters affiliated with MovieTickets.com. The service's exhibitor partners represent more than 60% of the top-100-grossing theaters in North America on any given weekend.

"The latest movies are always a hot topic, both on-air and online. Because of this, studios and distributors have long turned to our stations and their Web sites to promote the latest releases," said Paul Miraldi, senior vice president of programming and marketing for Clear Channel online music and radio, in a statement. "The addition of MovieTickets.com's ticketing engine ... provides our listeners and advertisers with a valuable service that complements our existing entertainment content."

Each month, Clear Channel Radio station Web sites reach more than 14 million unique visitors and deliver nearly 40 million on-demand plays of music videos, artist performances and star interviews. Clear Channel's on-air broadcasts reach 100 million listeners nationwide each week.

The MovieTickets.com theater chain group includes 145 theater chains in total, such as AMC Theatres, Carolina Cinemas, Cleveland Cinemas, Entertainment Retail, Galaxy Cinemas (Canada), Mall of America 14, Roxy Theatres and Sunrise Cinemas.

"With the addition of another major brand, we continue to expand our affiliate program and gain more visibility for the theater chains represented by MovieTickets.com," added Joel Cohen, executive vice president and general manager, MovieTickets.com.

Formed in 2000, MovieTickets.com is a joint venture between AMC Entertainment, Hollywood Media Corp., National Amusements, Famous Players, Marcus Theatres, Viacom and AOL.
