  • Media Marketing Solutions (MMS), part of WPP's media investment management company GroupM, has named three industry veterans to its New York team: PHYLLIS TOSS will lead all client television and radio purchases as senior vice president and director of national broadcast; GEORGE COPPOLA will head marketing efforts as vice president and director of strategic communications for several accounts, including El Pollo Loco and the CommonHealth accounts Provigil and Aldara. Lastly, DAN MCGILLICK will work on the NovoNordisk and various CommonHealth accounts as manager of direct marketing.

  • Starcom USA has named strategy director LARA KAZANDJIAN a senior vice president of the agency. Kazandjian is responsible for overseeing all media communications strategy for Walt Disney Co.’s Buena Vista Studios Theatrical account. Kazandjian joined Starcom in 2002.

  • CRAIG DAVIS has been promoted to chief creative officer worldwide at JWT. Davis was hired 10 months ago as chief creative officer for JWT Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Before joining JWT, he was regional executive creative director for Saatchi & Saatchi Asia/Africa.

  • Kilgannon McReynolds has hired DAVE CAPANO as senior vice president, media director. He joins the agency from Adair-Greene Advertising in Atlanta where he served as vice president, director of media and interactive services on accounts such as BellSouth, CIBA Vision, and Georgia-Pacific Building Products.

  • JOHN FRIEDBERG has joined the New York-based advertising firm Cossette Post as executive vice president, managing director of health technologies.

  • IVA CAMPISANO has joined BusinessWeek Online as Southwest account manager, based in Los Angeles. Campisano’s responsibilities include spearheading ad sales efforts. Campisano comes to BusinessWeek Online from SmartMoney.com.

  • Iconoculture, a consumer trend research and advisory services company, adds GENE RAPHAELIAN to the executive management team as vice president, products and services. Raphaelian directs the research, advisory, and consulting organizations and leads the strategic development of Iconoculture products and services. Raphaelian spent more than 14 years at Gartner Group in various executive roles including vice president and research director of Gartner’s IT executive programs.

  • FRED DOSCHER has been named research manager at Forbes.com, responsible for managing and implementing all research efforts in support of advertising sales. He joins Forbes.com from AJ Interactive. In addition, MARCIA GREENBLATT was appointed to the newly created position of events coordinator, responsible for Forbes.com’s portfolio of conferences and seminars. She joins Forbes.com from The Institute for International Research in New York, where she was associate meeting planner.

  • STACY HIGBEE, SHIRLEY HWANG, and LISA PARK have joined TargetCast tcm as vice presidents/account directors. Higbee, who previously worked on “OTC” products at Saatchi & Saatchi, will work on the agency’s Wyeth Consumer Healthcare brands, including Advil, Robitussin, Alavert, and Dimetapp. Hwang was most recently vice president and group media director at Halogen Response Media, directing such clients as Procter & Gamble, Capital One, and Walt Disney World. Park directs the Centrum Vitamin business, as well as Chapstick, Preparation H, Fibercon, Anbesol and other brands. She joins the agency from The Wolfe Group where she was an associate media director responsible for Equal and British Tourism.

  • JOËLLE TISON has been named managing director of Draft Paris. Tison most recently was the managing director of OgilvyOne Paris. While there, Tison oversaw a full range of relationship marketing activities on behalf of her clients, including Air France, American Express, Unilever, Dior, Mattel, and Banque Directe.

  • RICK HOLZMAN has been named vice president, program planning and scheduling for Discovery Channel and PETER LOVERING has been named vice president, production and development, Discovery Channel for Discovery Networks, U.S. in London. In his new role, Holzman will oversee scheduling and acquisitions for the network and plan long-term programming strategies. Holzman joins Discovery from Universal Television Group where he most recently served as senior vice president of the strategic research division. Lovering joins Discovery from the BBC, where he most recently served as head of development for the BBC Docs and Contemporary Factual division.

  • W3 Data has named PATRICK KIRTLAND as vice president, W3 Data Solutions. Kirtland will oversee the strategic direction of the company's Data Solutions division.

  • SAMUEL ALBIS has been named creative director of ViVA Partnership, a full service, integrated U.S. Hispanic marketing and advertising firm. He formerly held the position of associate creative director at del Rivero Messianu Advertising/DDB.

  • Omnicom Group named MICHAEL BIRKIN as president and chief executive officer of Omnicom Asia-Pacific, effective April 1. He will also hold the title of vice-chairman, Omnicom Group. Since 1999, Birkin has served as worldwide president of DAS, Omnicom’s largest network.

  • JULIETTE ROBINSON TROTTMAN has joined the Newspaper Association of America as director of retail advertising. She is responsible for NAA initiatives aimed at helping newspapers increase retail advertising revenue. Prior to joining NAA, she worked for 15 years at The Miami Herald.

  • EMILY-JANE PETERS has joined IDG Entertainment's online sales team as a regional sales manager. Her territory will include the Pacific Northwest region, as well as Chicago. Prior to joining IDG, she worked for GameDAILY. She also held previous positions with The Wall Street Journal Online and Barron's Magazine.

  • SMITHSONIAN magazine has promoted ANDREW GRANT to senior promotion manager from promotion manager. Grant’s new responsibilities include developing and implementing long term marketing initiatives and management of the RFP process. He joined the company as the promotion manager in November 2002.

  • Arbitron has appointed MICHAEL PANEBIANCO to the position of senior account manager and digital media specialist, Arbitron Outdoor Solutions. Most recently, Panebianco worked as director of sales at Nassau Media Partners. Prior to that, he worked as an account executive at Comcast.

  • Siegel & Gale promoted NOAH MANDUKE to president and chief operating officer. He will be responsible for the firm's overall strategic direction, growth and business operations. Manduke joined Siegel & Gale in 1997 as the managing director of its Los Angeles office.

  • The Vendare Group has named DAVID BURCHAM executive vice president of operations. The company also named MICHAEL V. DOWNS, who formerly served with Booz Allen and Accenture, as senior vice president, corporate development and strategic planning. Burcham served as president and CEO of Toytime.com Inc., before becoming president of ACT•1, a staffing and human resources firm.

  • KATHY BUGBEE has been promoted to international sales manager at WorldLink. She joined the company in 1997.

  • JAYNE COOPERMAN has been named vice president of planning for PARADE Publications. Cooperman will be involved in strategic planning and brand development efforts. Cooperman joins the company from MediaCom, where she was vice president/group director, print services, responsible for negotiation and placement of all print media and related programs for clients including ConAgra Foods, The Dannon Company Inc., Diageo, The J.M. Smucker Co., and Remington.

  • Justice Magazine has hired FOSTER TENNANT as sales director. Tennant previously worked at Esquire, New York Magazine, and Playboy Enterprises. Additionally, MICHAEL CAPLAN has been named advertising coordinator for the magazine.
