Half Of Local Media Companies Report Digital Ad Gains

About half of local media companies (49%) said digital advertising revenue rose from 2022 to 2023, according to the study by the Local Media Consortium, a group that seeks to help smaller publishers build economies of scale when selling advertising. Alphabet’s Google and Meta Platforms are among the technology companies that support these efforts.

Another 21% of respondents said digital ad revenue last year was flat, while 19% reported a decline.

As for their outlook for 2024, more than three quarters (79%) of local media industry professionals said they expected an increase in overall digital revenue. Only 3% foresee a decline
