Gannett Sells Three New Mexico Newspapers

Gannett has unloaded more New Mexico publications, selling Alamogordo Daily News, Carlsbad-Current Argus and Ruidoso News to El Rito Media LLC.

Last week, Gannett signed a deal to sell The Farmington Daily Times to Ballantine Communications Inc., effective June 1. 

Gannett has sold several small publications around the country as it seeks to reduce costs. 

El Rito Media publishes two other newspapers in the state, Rio Grande Sun and Artesia DailyGannett still owns one New Mexico paper, Las Cruces Sun-News, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican

“Gannett’s mission is to empower and enrich communities across the country, and our business decisions are driven by our commitment to best serve them,” Michael Anastasi, VP of local news for Gannett, said last week, according to The Farmington Daily Times. 

Anastasi adds, “We are grateful for the support of our readers and advertisers throughout the years and thank our employees for their dedication and hard work.”
