A new category of Windows PCs designed for advertisers, creators and consumers supported by artificial intelligence (AI), named wCopilot+ PCs, has been announced by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

Nadella referred to the PCs as the fastest and most AI-ready devices, with the ability to handle more AI processing locally rather than using the cloud. For advertisers that could mean more sophisticated graphics. For consumers, it could mean more data protection.

“Now, we begin a new chapter with AI innovation on the device,” Nadella wrote in a blog post. “We have completely reimagined the entirety of the PC – from silicon to the operating system, the application layer to the cloud – with AI at the center, marking the most significant change to the Window platform in decades.”

The new computers, which are expected to ship June 18, are called Copilot Plus PCs. The chips for these are being developed by Qualcomm, AMD, and Intel.

Windows 11 has been redesigned to outperform Apple's MacBook Air as they are 58% faster than the most advanced MacBook Air with the M3 processor and have a more efficient battery.

One aspect of Copilot+ PCs known as Recall is a more advanced version of a Timeline feature from Windows 10. The feature allows users to use natural language prompts to get the PC to resurface information based on what the person remembers by scrolling through apps, documents and messages.

Data remains on the PC, and it will not be used to train Microsoft's AI models.

A new Copilot app used as a stand-alone window, sidebar or in full screen enables users to drag and drop elements into Copilot from elsewhere in Windows with help from a new Copilot key on the keyboards.

Advertisers that create their own content will appreciate the new partnership.

Microsoft announced that Adobe will include its flagship apps on Copilot+ PCs. Apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom and Express are all available today.

Illustrator, Premiere Pro and more are coming this summer.

For Adobe Creative Cloud customers, they will benefit from the full performance advantages of Copilot+ PCs to express their creativity faster than ever before.
