'Complex,' Formerly Part Of Buzzfeed, Gears Up With New Hires

Youth culture brand Complex has acquired Noah Callahan-Bever’s media firm Idea Generation. And Callahan-Bever, formerly an EVP at Def Jam Records and the editor in chief and chief content officer at Complex, is returning to the publication after six years, Variety reports.

In addition, Complex has named Aria Hughes as editor in chief, the first person to hold that title since Maurice Peebles left in 2022 to join ESPN, Variety continues. Hughes was previously the editorial creative director at Complex.

Ntwrk, a live video shopping platform, acquired Complex from Buzzfeed in February, saying that it wanted to create a new destination for “superfan” culture.
