Cynicism be gone. LOVE, created by Italian artist and painter Gian Berto Vanni, was a book about a little girl that took him about three days to write and ten years to get published. NINO Studio took this off-beat work--it has cut-outs and slots and different colored pages ... and music-- got Vanni involved, and created this app which traces its themes of tolerance and understanding. He said, “We are all different, we are all the same." Plus, it’s got the cutest damn girl stick figure you'll ever see.

Branded Gaming App: Duck Dynasty: Battle of the Beards by RED Interactive Agency for A&E Networks/Duck Dynasty

Master the backwoods skills of Duck Dynasty stars to lose the Yuppie polish and gain the coveted grizzled beard. But this predictable branded game convention works because of the execution. Using Warioland as its inspiration, the app tosses an endless array of five second tap and swipe challenges at the player where the real challenge is just deciphering what the gamer is supposed to so. The lightning speed, wit of the challenges (color a beard, start the chainsaw, blow the beaver dam) and colorful asides form the show stars add up to that rare branded game – challenging, addictive, fun and a brand ambassador.

The key insight of Fox’s video rich news app is not to rely wholly on video. Newshounds still read and want to consumer breaking news in multiple ways.
