Cars.com - Director, National Sales – Cars.com

Cars.com is seeking a Director of National Sales. This individual will maintain and grow revenue from existing clients though relationships with key decision makers. The Director is instrumental in driving sales strategy and at times is responsible for participating in negotiations across all Cars.com platforms. In addition, Cars.com looks to this individual to keep constant communication flowing between the national sales team and sales management regarding progress being made with all revenue goals and closing of identified prospects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Sell multi-platform advertising campaigns to clients within an assigned territory/ account list.
  • Maintain and grow revenue from existing clients by adding new Cars.com products and platforms to their media mix.
  • Proactively drive new business through research and prospecting.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key decision makers and influencers at both the agency and OEM level.
  • Perform necessary planning and analysis to ensure that the objectives and priorities for each sales call are established and met within the time frame designated by the client.
  • Help develop strategy for sales presentations to both existing and potential clients.
  • Address client concerns, questions, and objectives to close sales with targeted clients.
  • Participate in negotiation of pricing and advertising placement/content across all Cars.com platforms.
  • Keep sales management apprised of progress towards established revenue goals and closing of identified prospects.
  • Stewards proposals, deals, and post-deal analysis.
  • Coordinate with multiple support teams who administer accounts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Keep current with industry trends and client business news. 
  • Well versed in tech and digital advertising initiatives such as automated buying, viewability, and IAB related topics
  • A strong understanding of the Cars.com value proposition preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of sales and/or marketing experience
  • Sales/marketing experience in digital/mobile and television advertising
  • Existing relationships with agency/client contacts
  • Proven track record in media sales or agency/client side marketing
  • Proven background in developing, closing, and maintaining strategic advertising accounts
