Crown Media Family Networks - Director, Social Media

ROLE SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Director, Social Media is responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of strategic social media and digital initiatives related to these platforms.  The Director also develops and executes viral publicity and promotion campaigns and integrates interactive media into social media platforms.  This position delivers projects that meet the company’s strategic vision and business objectives.  The position is responsible for providing creative direction for all content creation and overseeing the creative content to all of Crown Media Family Networks’ established media platforms.  Will explore and cultivate all reasonable new platforms related to consumer-facing messages in this space that are designed to drive tune-in and ratings, as well as, enhancing social awareness and engagement for the company, the brand, and the diverse programs on two national networks and for any other media companies Crown Media Family Networks may launch in the future.  This position works as an integral part of the Social Media team to effectively message current promotions, attract new consumers to the company and its networks, and to quickly and effectively handle crisis management whenever and wherever it may be required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with the Crown Media team in the development of innovative ideas and marketing programs that translate into social metrics
  • Provides Creative Direction to Social Coordinator and interns to develop content that falls in line with the Crown Media Content Strategy
  • Works closely with VP to architect cross-platform marketing programs that support integrated marketing and advertising sales initiatives.
  • Responsible for day to day management of all of our social platforms and has familiarity with content management systems
  • Develop and maintain content calendars that are integrated within the needs of programming, publicity, Dot.Com and marketing
  • Develop optimization strategies for creative content
  • Tracks and generates campaign performance reports in collaboration with research department and via access to analytic tools (Twitter, Facebook, ListenFirst, etc).
  • Use performance metrics to quickly analyze trends and impact on the brand
  • Supervise freelancers and manage the relationships with external vendors/agencies as it relates to social media
  • Delivers innovative social media campaigns that effectively raise awareness and drive tune-in
  • Implements social content plans into all press campaigns
  • Travels as required for talent representation, social media promotions, and content creation while keeping day to day tactics on schedule
  • Collaborates on set with full knowledge of set and production protocol
  • Bridges talent relations and represents Hallmark Channel & Hallmark Movies & Mysteries  brand externally
  • Participates in TV Critics Tour planning, implementation
  • Participates in departmental brainstorming as required 
  • Follows best practices in social media on daily basis
  • Assists in social messaging when requested by VP

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 5+ years Social Media experience
  • Experience measuring and making recommendations using performance measurement tools and metrics: Google Analytics, Omniture, ComScore, Alexa as well as Facebook and Twitter analytics, Tweet Reach, IconoSquare and other relevant social dashboards
  • Ability to apply marketing strategy to creative ideas and campaign activation across video, digital, mobile, social and event marketing
  • Prior experience using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Prior Cable or Broadcast Television experience

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Must have excellent writing skills and be able to handle heavy writing responsibilities on tight deadlines with ability to generate content for established platforms on a daily basis
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in and working knowledge of relevant professional concepts and related processes
  • Awareness of linear and social/digital platforms and direction of our industry and Crown Media business goals.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, be flexible, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills. Extremely detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to manage up and down
  • Presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Willingness to work during non-business hours
  • Superior knowledge of social media marketing universe including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, Viggle, DIGG, Flickr, Google+, StumbleUpon, Reddit, forums, wikis, blogs and all emerging platforms
  • Strong familiarity with best practices related to online and social content promotions
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Photoshop
  • Creative and out-of-the-box strategist who can conceptualize short and long-term campaigns when assigned and meet established deadlines
