Ipsos  - Director/VP - Business Development

This hands-on business development position is key to the Audience Measurement Group’s continued business and market growth. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, establishing and cultivating relationships with senior marketing and media executives as well as, being responsible for full-cycle consultative new business selling.

The role requires an independent, self-starter with a consultative selling style that is capable of building positive and collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues.  He/she will be responsible for securing new clients and growing existing client business

 

            KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Generate revenue that meets or exceeds defined revenue and profit targets from the sale of syndicated research products and custom research services

  • Employ a consultative, strategic selling approach with the goal of generating revenue

  • Build new client relationships and expand existing business with current clients

  • Consult with clients and build your own trusted advisor respect with colleagues externally and internally

  • Manage all aspects of the sales process including prospecting, qualifying, meeting, negotiating, and closing clients

  • Analyze and interpret survey results; preparing and presenting client presentations

  • Monitor day-to-day management of accounts and utilize sales management system to ensure accurate and current information

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of trends in the media, technology and market research industries

  • Develop an understanding of your clients’ business issues and the industries in which they operate

  • Work with client service (project) teams to ensure client satisfaction

  • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships through developing an understanding of their business objectives and ensuring exceptional client service

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, business, marketing research, or social sciences preferred; MBA is a plus

  • Minimum of 8 years of sales experience required

  • Experience in a Director or VP level role in a market research, consulting or other professional services organization preferred but not required; marketing or media-related experience a plus

  • Proven track record generating new business and renewing existing business

  • Possess new business development skills: prospecting, cold calling, presenting, needs assessment and the ability to close business

  • Consultative sales experience selling research

  • Strong list of industry contacts

  • Experience presenting syndicated and custom research solutions is a plus

  • Knowledge of, the media and technology industries and advertising agency ecosystem

  • Self-motivated, high energy, detailed-oriented individual with a passion for new business and a tireless work ethic

  • Team player

  • Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written communication)

  • Proficient with MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

  • Syndicated research skills, preferably the Ipsos Affluent Survey (and/or MRI, Simmons, JD Power, and MARS)

  • Periodic domestic travel required
