  • Verizon
    McCann Erickson and Universal McCann
    Verizon Wireless has selected McCann Erickson in New York as its national advertising agency of record. Universal McCann will handle media planning responsibilities. The decision came after a 13-week review, which was narrowed down to McCann Erickson and one other agency. Billings were not disclosed, but industry sources estimate the account value at $300 million.

    MediaCom U.S.
    The Chicago franchisee group of Subway Restaurants has hired MediaCom U.S. to handle its media buying and planning business. This win is MediaCom's first local assignment from Subway Restaurants; the agency has been the media agency of record for Subway Restaurants' national account since 2000. Zenith Optimedia previously handled the account. The assignment includes media planning and buying activities on a local level. Billings were not disclosed.

    Staples has split with its agency, Martin/Williams, Minneapolis, and has launched a review for its TV creative account. Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., is handling the review.

    Heinz Co. has opened a review for its frozen-food brands, worth an estimated $15 million. DDB Worldwide, San Francisco, previously handled the accounts. Roth Associates, New York, is managing the review.

    Reynardus & Moya Advertising, Inc. was selected from five New York-based Hispanic agencies to develop marketing, public relations and promotions plans for the launch of the POLLO CAMPERO Latin American restaurant chain in the New York City market. Billings were not disclosed.

    Medical Mutual, the largest and oldest Ohio-based health insurer, has appointed Wyse Advertising of Cleveland as its advertising agency of record. Billings were not disclosed.

    Greteman Group
    Midwest Corporate Aviation has named Greteman Group its agency of record. The Wichita, Kansas-based branding agency will provide identity, collateral, and interactive support. Billings were not disclosed.
