To the people killing Twitter:

  • by , February 23, 2009

Thanks, by the way, to those of you who commented on my prior post. There are still some thoughts left unsaid in that rant, and it probably could be refined. That said ..

TO THOSE PEOPLE KILLING TWITTER:
Stop using direct message auto-responders. It's got all the irritation of an AIM away message that's 12-pages long.

a) The socially savvy members of today's youth should not reward you for forcefully using shorthand when it was unneeded. "Thx for following!" is bad. You could have clearly said "Thanks." Yes, you could have ... Which brings me to my next point.

b) I know it's not you. I'm more insulted that it's not you, as opposed to no direct message having taken place period.

c) Don't assume I'm a fellow ______, just because I follow you.

This isn't the office, and no one cares that you're on vacation. Leave the auto-responder at home, or I'm going to leave you off my follow list.

You are RIGHT on the money David. Additionally, why on earth to people feel compelled to tell everyone what they eat, their sexual proclivities, and mindless drivel? Perhaps Twitter is the new 140 character psychologist? cheers, sam
