Can Verizon's Android-operated Samsung Galaxy Tab give Apple's iPad a run for its money? Maybe so, says
GigaOm. Comparing the 16 GB version of the Galaxy Tab for $600 to Apple's 16 GB model for $630, GigaOm writes:
"A $30 savings on the Tab isn't much, but keeping the price below that of an iPad could get consumers to look at the device." What's more, the Galaxy Tab will offer some feature that GigaOm feels are
conspicuously missing from the Apple's current iPad model.
Not only does the Galaxy have two cameras, but it can be used for video calls with other Android device owners, as well as
friends that own an iPhone 4 or the new iPod touch. Also, since the Galaxy Tab runs Google Android 2.2, it supports widgets on home screens, "meaning the Tab can show information at a glance like
Facebook status updates, stock prices, or the local weather." Oh, and let's not forget compatibility with Adobe Flash Player, which Apple devices notoriously lack Furthermore, as GigaOm notes, "Users
of Google services will find much better support on the Galaxy Tab than on Apple's iPad."
