It wasn’t long ago that collectors and connoisseurs of live music fed their habits by trading reedy-sounding cassette tapes at flea markets and through the mail. That’s why Lively feels like such a revelation: working in concert with performers, it brings high-quality audio and video recordings straight to listeners’ phones, and does so within the confines of a streamlined app. While Lively’s archive is limited by the fact that the service has only existed for a few months, it’s been adding shows at a rapid-fire pace since SxSW.
