The New York Times takes a look at Emergent -- a new tool designed to track the dissemination of rumors online. “Everyone knows there is dubious information online … but estimating the
magnitude of the problem has been difficult until now,” it writes, referring to the work of Craig Silverman, a journalist and fellow at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia
University, and the creator of Emergent.
