Russia Tightens Hold On Internet Data

A Russian competition watchdog has ruled that Google violated competition rules and has ordered the company to stop abusing its dominant market position. The outreach was prompted by a recent ruling by the Russian government requiring companies to store data about Russian citizen on Russian soil. The government's goal is to gain greater access to domestic security services and online data, as well as lessen the potential for foreign states, such as the U.S., to gain the same access to the data, according to one report.
