First Lady Michelle Obama joined a panel on higher education hosted by Time Inc.’s Essence magazine this week. The panel, at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland, is part of the magazine’s annual Essence College Tour, which will visit three additional campuses this fall. Joining the First Lady in the conversation were Howard Community College President Kate Heatherington, Howard Community College student Trecya Jordan and Howard County General Hospital President Steve Snelgrove. The 30-minute discussion was moderated by Essence Features Editor Lauren Williams and live-streamed on Essence.com. The Essence tour also features an exclusive Q&A video with the First Lady in which she talks about her own college experiences and gives advice to students and parents.
