'HuffPo' Partners With Celebs, Promotes Charities For Original Video Series

HuffPostOriginals has partnered with celebrities and charities to launch a video series, called “Celebs Have Issues,” that uses comedy and star power to highlight serious social issues, like equal pay, transgender rights and mental health.

Each week, celebrities, including Kristen Bell, Drew & Jonathan Scott, Mayim Bialik, Ty Burrell and Reid Scott, will star in a sketch that spoofs a commercial, promo or PSA to spotlight a cause of their choosing.

Each episode will link to a charity to promote awareness and encourage action regarding the issue.

The premiere episode debuted today and stars Kristen Bell as an advocate for women’s inequality in the workplace. The episode is in partnership with I Am That Girl, which works to empower girls and women.

The episode asks: “Why outsource all your production to far away countries like India, China and Narnia when we have the cheapest and best workforce right here in the good ole’ US of A: Women.”

Other charities featured in the series are Straight But Not Narrow, an ally awareness campaign that trains young adults on how to become LGBTQ allies, National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, and Kids In The Spotlight, which teaches underserved kids how to create their own short films.

The 10-episode series “Celebs Have Issues” launches a new episode every Wednesday.

This isn’t the first video series HuffPost Originals has created to bring social awareness to its audience.

In July, it launched Sustainable Self, a 10-episode animated series about how small actions impact the Earth in a big way. HuffPost partnered with Change.org to launch a Sustainable Self movement page, where viewers can create and join petitions based on the issues highlighted in each episode.
