WhatsApp is reporting a 70% drop in “highly forwarded” messages, which, as the BBC notes, “are the kind that may spread misinformation about the coronavirus.” In fact,
“WhatsApp has been key to the spread of misinformation during the pandemic,” it writes. However, “Two weeks ago, WhatsApp stopped messages sent between individual users five times or
more then [sic] being posted to more than one chat group at a time.”
