'Jet' Magazine Is Back With A Mobile App

Jet Magazine is partnering with Disctopia, a podcast, music, and audiobook streaming platform for independent creators, to bring Black voices to the forefront.

The publication, which reported on the Civil Rights movement and other historical developments starting in 1951, has not appeared in print in nine years.

But it recently was relaunched digitally. And, through Disctopia’s Enterprise service, Jet will now deploy a Web 3.0 mobile application to enhance audience engagement and the user experience.

Disctopia’s True Play engagement technology tracks daily listeners and downloads and metrics such as total plays in a certain time period, geographic location, and user engagement retention, the company says.

“This feels like the right time for Jet to come back to empower the Black community just like it did in the past,” says Daylon Goff, president of JET.

Goff adds, “Disctopia is a great ally on our new journey as they’ve also used their streaming platform to highlight young talent in the black community.”

Disctopia founder and CEO Patrick Hill says, “We’re happy to see that Jet is back because it used to be the pulse of the community, and this new app will surely put them back in that position.”

Jet is now owned by Ebony Media Corporation.
