Gawker Acquired By Caldecott Owner: Reports

Gawker, the on-again, off-again U.S. blog that focuses on celebrities, has a new owner.

The blog was acquired by Meng Ru Kuok, CEO of Singapore-based music company Caldecott, from Bustle Digital Group, according to reports.

No terms were disclosed.

“As it relates to the future for Gawker, as a brand that spent many years in the public consciousness, my personal opinion is that it has the opportunity for reinvention,” Kuok reportedly says in an email. “Whatever plans materialize, what’s for sure is that it won’t be the same as it was before.”

Gawker was acquired out of bankruptcy auction by Bustle Digital Group in 2018 for a reported $1.35 million, and relaunched in 2021, according to media reports.
