'Centre Daily Times' Cuts Print To 2 Days A Week

The Centre Daily Times, a McClatchy paper serving State College, Pennsylvania, has reduced its print schedule to two days per week while transitioning to a 24/7 digital product.

The print issues will be published on Tuesdays and Sundays and will be delivered by mail. The Sunday issue will also be available at select retail locations.

“The electronic edition — we call it the Edition for short — will continue to publish seven days a week at CentreDaily.com and in our digital app,” the paper writes.

This switch is “a vital step toward the sustainability of the Centre Daily Times, which, at 126 years old, is one of Centre County’s oldest institutions,” the newspaper writes. "We plan to be here for decades to come, but to do that it’s critical that we adapt to the digital world.”

It adds: “Increasingly, Centre County residents get their news from their phones, tablets and computers. With that trend in mind, we’ve become much more digitally focused and have intensified that approach to where readers of CentreDaily.com or our Edition often see our best work before print readers.”
