Create, Upload

Think of Uth TV as YouTube for 13- to 24-year-olds, minus the copyright issues. The year-old company offers young people an outlet to upload original content they create, from audio and video files to images and text. People of all ages can register to become members, but only teens and young adults can post content.

"We're creating an online distribution platform that is changing the way young people create media," says Amy Critchett, marketing director for Uth TV.

Once a submission is uploaded to the site, it remains in a pending mode until it is reviewed for posting. The turnaround time for posting on UthTV.com: a mere 10 minutes.

To spread the word, Uth TV has partnered with nationwide youth media organizations and high schools with an emphasis on technology and media programs. The site offers an incentive program called "U points," which allows members to accrue points for registering on the site.

Incentives remain modest for the time being: Members reaching a certain amount of points receive a T-shirt, but this may change further down the road.

In the future, Uth TV hopes to offer the capability for college students to create portfolios to show potential employers.
