Annotated:The Next FCC Chairperson

Who will he be? Well, he might not even be a he. Two of the speculative names being bandied about are women of color. One is Julia Johnson, a Florida consultant who chairs Video Access Alliance, an advocacy and advisory group for independent, emerging, and minority networks and Internet content providers who has chaired the fcc's diversity committee for digital issues. The other is Mignon Clyburn, public service commissioner and daughter of House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, South Carolina's most prominent black politician. Until a new Chairperson is appointed, either of the two Democratic commissioners, Michael Copps or Jonathan Adelstein, are likely to be appointed interim-Chair.
