  • Chad Hopenwasser
    TBWA\Chiat\Day New York

    TBWA\Chiat\Day New York tapped Chad Hopenwasser as head of integrated production, beginning in mid-March. Hopenwasser will oversee approximately 20 people and work with executive creative director, Matt Ian, who joined the agency last September. He will report to Robert Harwood-Matthews, president of the NY office. Hopenwasser joins TBWA from Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, where he worked for almost eight years, most recently as vice president, director of video production working on campaigns for Xbox One, Grey Poupon and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. Prior to that, he spent six years at Grey New York.

  • Tom Johnstone
    72andSunny Amsterdam

    72andSunny hired Tom Johnstone as group strategy director in the agency's Los Angeles office, to work alongside the Sansumg team. Johnstone joins the agency from AMV BBDO, where he developed strategy for brands like Guinness, Motorola and Footlocker, UK Government Transport, Health and Environmental Departments. While there, he was also a part of the "MakePovertyHistory" (known as ONE in the U.S.) and "IF" campaigns that tackled hunger. "I've known Tom for years and always thought he'd be a perfect fit for 72andSunny - with his approach to strategy, rigor in thinking, and creativity in expression," said Matt Jarvis, Chief Strategy Officer and partner at 72andSunny.

    We Are Social added three employees to its New York office. Nicole Ghobrial was named client services director, responsible for leading client relationships, developing product offerings and overseeing operations. Ghobrial comes to the NY office from the agency's London headquarters, where she held the same position. Benjamin Arnold was named group account director to oversee the agency's roster of accounts. He joins the agency from JWT New York, where he spent two years as account director managing programs for Nestle. Lastly, Grace Gordon was named strategy director, a new position. She was previously part of the strategy group at Big Spaceship, working on YouTube and Google.

    Energy BBDO Chicago hired Mark Taylor as its chief creative officer, effective April 7. Taylor began his career more than 15 years ago as an art director at FCB in Los Angeles and continuing with leadership roles at Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, Fallon Minneapolis and GSD&M in Austin, TX. He won 20 Cannes Lions including Grand Prix awards for his work on American Express' "Small Business Saturday" and Ikea as well as a Titanium Grand Prix for Burger King and a Cannes Lion for Effectiveness. Taylor has also created campaign for Air Force, Windows Phone, Coke Zero, Microsoft, MINI and Southwest Airlines.

    Deutsch New York hired Juan Carlos Pagan as design director, beginning March 3. He will report to Kerry Keenan, chief creative officer. Pagan joins the agency from DDB New York, where he has worked since 2011 on clients such as Tropicana, New York Lottery, Water is Life, and Reebok. He has also worked at MTV, G2 Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather and DraftFCB. Pagan became well known within the design community for his design of the Pinterest logo and currently serves on the Young Guns committee. He is also partner, creative director at Brooklyn-based design and type foundry, Pagan & Sharp.

    Nickelodeon named Damon Burrell senior vice president of consumer marketing and advertising, Nickelodeon Group. Most recently, Burrell served as senior vice president of consumer marketing for MTV.
