  • Thomas Shim

    Y&R New York hired Thomas Shim as creative director on Dell account, beginning Nov. 16. Shim will work with Christian Carl, global executive creative director on Dell, reporting both to Carl and Leslie Sims, chief creative officer. He joins the agency from Spike DDB, where he was associate creative director on Cadillac and Chevrolet. Prior to that, Shim was an integrated creative at Havas Worldwide in New York, working on Dos Equis, Heineken, Ritz and Durex. He also freelanced for BBDO, R/GA, MRM McCann, Saatchi and Saatchi, Comedy Central and Heineken USA. "Thomas is one of the most talented people I have ever had the pleasure to work with," said Carl. "He will make an immediate impact -- not only on the work, but as a mentor and leader on the team. We have worked really well together in the past and I'm excited to have that opportunity again."

    Winston Thomas was promoted to senior vice president, global executive creative director of R/GA. He will help develop product and services opportunities and provide creative assistance to offices as they pitch new business and grow work with existing clients. Winston joined the agency in 1996 and currently works on projects for Nike, MasterCard, Nokia and HBO. Before Joining R/GA, he was the founder and director of WT Design, a Multimedia and Broadcast Studio in New York.

    Geometry Global tapped Todd Szahun as head of digital, a new position. Szahun joins the agency's New York office to oversee the innovation and advancement of the agency's digital capabilities -- bringing together all digital expertise within the agency and across the wider WPP digital and shopper communities. Szahun will also continue in his current role with WPP's Data Alliance -- a horizontal unit that helps WPP companies access and leverage data -- where he serves as vice president of data strategy and partnerships. Szahun joined WPP in 2010 to build the global search marketing practice for Proctor & Gamble at GroupM's digital search agency. Catalyst.     Arnold Worldwide added four to its creative department. Rua Perston and Matt Cramp were named associate creative directors, based in Boston. They will report to Jim Elliott, global chief creative officer. Both previously served as senior creatives at Innocean Australia. Craig Wood was named innovation director, based in the New York. He will report to Matt McGregor-Mento, director of creative technology. Wood previously served as product & innovation director at mcgarrybowen. Lastly, Brice Rogers was named conceptual director, based in New York office and reporting to McGregor-Mento. Rogers was previously a senior art director/designer at AKQA.

    MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER hired Jay Berry as executive creative director. He will work alongside co-founder/executive creative director John Matejczyk, overseeing the creative department. Berry previously worked at TBWA\Chiat\Day and Media Arts Lab, Wieden & Kennedy, and in-house with Apple. He most recently worked as creator of Apple's "Shot on iPhone 6" campaign, which won Grand Prix at Cannes, along with other top awards. "When we set out to find an ECD, and creative partner for me, we had a clear objective: Find someone more talented," said Matejczyk. "Fortunately, that part was pretty easy. With a portfolio of work including 'Ears are weird' introducing the iPhone 5 and the refreshing 'I've never run this far' line for Nike, I remember being super impressed when those campaigns first launched and knew he'd be a great fit for the team."
