Jeremy Halbreich has been named chairman of the Sun-Times Media Group, as well as interim CEO. He replaces Cyrus Freidheim, who announced his resignation as CEO and president after a takeover of the
company's board by dissident shareholders, reports the
Chicago Sun-Times. Halbreich, a former GM of
The Dallas Morning News, will grapple with the company's ongoing losses, in addition
to enormous federal tax liability incurred by former owner Conrad Black, now in prison for corporate theft.
