Super Bowl Ad Equals Monster Numbers

  • January 31, 2001
Proving that millions of dollars can be well spent on the Super Bowl, ads for Monster.com resulted in 8.1 million post-game job searches. Also, a record 42,556 resumes were submitted on Monday, the day after the game, topping the previous high of 38,346. Jeff Taylor, CEO of Monster.com, said that their plan was to have ads that showed successful, career-defining moments, such as a person's first business card and thus far, Monster.com's new "Job Good, Life Good" campaign seems to be a success judging by early numbers.

Monster.com measures the strength of their traffic figures in three ways: resume submissions, job searches, and job postings. Over the past three years of purchasing Super Bowl ad time, job searches on Monster.com have nearly doubled each year. In 2001, a record 8.1 million job searches were conducted. In 2000, there were 4.4 million job searches after the game. And in 1999, 2.2 million job searches were tallied. It wasn't just the job seekers that were logging on, though, as potential employers posted 27,728 available jobs on Monday, a 60% hike from the 17,279 jobs posted a day prior to the Super Bowl. From the numbers, it seems as if people's post-game festivities this year were either logging on to Monster.com, or returning their Kerry Collins jerseys.
