The Chicago Tribune cut 53 jobs from its newsroom the same day its parent Tribune Co. asked a bankruptcy court to approve $13.3 million in bonuses and other incentive payments to 703 employees, reports Chicago Business. The top 10 executives in the company are not eligible for the bonuses. Wednesday's layoffs leave the Trib with 430 workers in its newsroom.

This kind of news just absolutely paralyzes the grey cells.
How can any organization set the inhumane employee-
cruelty bar this high? Job Cuts and +$Million Bonuses
should never appear in the same article.
This story spotlights the same kind of thoughtless leadership that fueled the passion of the Chicago Hay Market riots, an
episode in history that I am painfully familiar with.
So why the silence over this latest approach to honey and vinegar media management? Is it fear of stepping on powerful toes-- in an insular community, or just total shock?
