Kohl's Department Stores, which earlier this week was named by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's as the No. 1 purchaser of green power among retailers for the quarter, just got another green
accolade. It has earned the EPA's Energy Star for an additional 110 stores. In order to earn the Energy Star, commercial buildings must rank in the top 25% of similar facilities for energy use, and
release an average of 35% less dioxide. Kohl's also says it is the first specialty department store to earn Silver-level LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) initial certification of
new store prototype.
