Campaign To 'Spring Clean' TV Launched By Nets

  • May 21, 2009
CBS, NBC, News Corp. and others have launched TV Watch, an online campaign to push the V-chip/TV ratings system, reports B&C. "Spring Clean Your TV" is a promo video and Web site for parents to help them vet the content their children see. "Studies show that the time children spend watching television increases 150% this time of year," said TV Watch Executive Director Jim Dyke, announcing the campaign. TV Watch was created as a response for more federal regulation of media.

What good will it do when Pharmacutical Companies such as Pfizer, Eli Lilly and others insist that their Prescription Drug Ads for "Adult Problems" continue to be aired at all times of the day, including times WHEN CHILDREN ARE WATCHING.

I am all for the V-Chip rule being amended so it includes Commercials as well as Programming.
