Nassau Acquires Two Allentown Stations

  • February 19, 2001
On Friday, Nassau Broadcasting Partners, L.P., a radio group that focuses on mid-sized radio stations in the affluent Northeastern U.S., acquired WODE (FM), and WEEX (AM), in Allentown, PA, from Clear Channel Communications. This allows Nassau to move into the larger market of Allentown, currently 65th in countrywide radio revenue according to Arbitron Fall 200. The two stations also compliment stations already operated by Nassau in the Wilkes Barre-Scranton market (the 64th largest based on U.S. population). Terms of the purchase include the transfer from Clear Channel of the two Allentown stations, plus approximately $12 million in cash to Nassau while Clear Channel acquires WNNJ (AM), WNNJ (FM), WSUS (FM), and WHCY (FM), which are all in Sussex, NJ. Clear Channel also has the option to acquire WTSX (FM), and WDLC (AM) in Port Jervis, NY. - Adam Bernard
