The Spring 2001 @plan Advertising report reveals that 4.2 million consumers are planning their weddings online, and 92% of that audience shop online for items such as jewelry, personal loans and alcohol. @plan says that consumers planning weddings online are more likely to shop online than the average internet user for vacation packages (71%) jewelry (67%), personal loans (21%), alcohol (beer/wine/liquor at 8%), cosmetics (4%) and gift selection services (100%).
As online wedding planners intend to combine households, this data indicates that consumers planning weddings online are much more likely than the average internet user to visit sites geared to apartment searches (31%), online coupons (97%), and horoscopes (96%). Surprisingly, these users are also visiting online games sites (41%), and online books sites (96%).
