The Associated Press has released a new mobile application for the Windows Mobile phones, providing users access to its mobile news network of 1,100 news sources.

The new app offered through Microsoft's Windows Mobile Marketplace, features AP and local news headlines across 50 categories including top news, business, politics, world, and college sports. The ad-supported AP Mobile app is already available across other platforms including Android, BlackBerry and the iPhone.

Earlier this month, the AP announced a partnership with Verve Wireless to offer a white-label service to help other publishers launch their own branded apps. The news organization also this month launched AP Mobile América Latina, a version of AP's mobile site and apps for Latin American users, including local and Caribbean news as well as national and world news from the AP.--Mark Walsh
